Free things to do in Mombasa 01/09/2019




Mombasa is the second largest and oldest city in Kenya founded in 900 A.D with a rich history and influence of Arabs, Portugese and British. If you are travelling on a budget, there are a couple of things you can do for free on on a small budget like;

 

1. Free Walking Tour, Mombasa

Established in 2017 and offered by Safarizote freelance tour guides, this is the original free tour in Mombasa and it runs on saturays starting at 1:30 pm for  about 2 hours. 2. Ride Likoni Ferry

This is a ferry service across the Kilindini Harbour servicing the Island of Mombasa and the South Coast.

 

3. Lord Shiva Temple & Mombasa Memorial Cathedral

These two sites charge no entry fees, however they are also included in the free walking tour, mombasa.

 

4. Swim or stroll along Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach

Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach is the only public beach located in Bamburu, North coast of Mombasa and you are free to stoll on the beach or swim.There are also plenty of nice and cheap places to eat. However, it advisable to be accompanied by someone as there are occasionally incidences of beach boys nagging tourists.
